    Business social responsibility (BSR) is receiving an increasingly significant issue for economic agents all over the world, due to a new attention to all the aspects of firm’s activities and their relationships with stakeholders. However few studies have considered the influence of BSR and organizational performances. Even if any the finding reveals inconsistencies’. Hence a mediating mechanism is suggested. This paper aims to provide a propose framework that examine the relationship between BSR and SMEs performance with mediating effect of organizational culture. Based on literature review, this paper proposes four constructs which can be used to identify the implementation at firm level.     Effect of corporate reputation and commitment of business social responsibility (BSR) on performance: Evidence from manufacturing sector in Nigeria

    The concern of business social responsibility calls and perceptive among scholars and practitioners has led to postulation that social activities would lead to competitive advantages. This paper examine tactical values in developing nation particularly Nigeria, and how it’s related to performances of manufacturing sector. Using a survey data of 248 usable questionnaires, the data were analysed using SEM. However, the result reveals positive association between corporate reputation and organizational performance. Surprisingly, BSR commitment was insignificant to organizational performance. This indicate that despite awareness and understanding of business social responsibility by manufacturing sector in Nigeria, but still concern of social behaviour may be lacking, in terms of commitment to social issues.Managerial implication and direction of future studies were also discussed

    Mediation effect of the organizational culture on the relationship between perceived ethics on performance of SMEs

    Purpose: This research aims to examine the association between perceived ethics and SMEs performance; also determine the mediation effect of organizational culture on the relationship. Design/methodology/approach: Based on the literature review, this research developed a conceptual model of Perceived ethics, organizational culture and performance. This research applied purposive sampling to gather data from owners/managers of SMEs in Kano State North- West of Nigeria. Apart from assessing the reliability and validity of the constructs through confirmatory factor analysis, this research also used Partial Least Square Techniques (PLS) of analysis approach to test the proposed hypothesis. Findings: Statistical result reveals that the relationship between perceived ethics and SMEs performance was found to be significant at p.value less than 0.001. Similarly as postulated the organizational culture mediates the relationships with significant value. Research limitations/implications: The sample for this study is based on SMEs and cross sectional in nature, In addition, the present study employed quantitative techniques future study can employed qualitative or case study method for design and analysis of information Practical implications: The finding of this study can assist practitioners and policy makers in SMEs to support the idea of social responsibility in designing strategic plan for superior performance. As whole, the outcome of this research will assist managers for better understanding of the business social responsibility antecedents under the perspective SMEs. Originality/value: This paper has tried to provide a comprehensive understanding about business social responsibility antecedents under the perspective SMEs context in Nigeria. Since there was a lack of such research in SMEs context, this research can provide theoretical contribution and managerial basis for future researches as well as implications for the managers.Peer Reviewe

    Influence of differentiation strategy on performance of hotels: the moderating role of environmental munificence

    This study investigates whether environmental munificence directly and indirectly predicts the relationship between differentiation strategy and performance.A total of 83 managers from hotels in Kano state were participated.A questionnaire was administered to collect information on socio demographics and on differentiation strategy, environmental munificence, and performance. Results revealed that differentiation strategy, environmental munificence was positively associated with performance. Environmental munificence fully moderates the relationships of differentiation strategy and performance.This article, apart from its contribution to the business strategy research, has meaningful implications for managers and policy-makers, the future research directions are discussed

    The increase on Business Social Responsibility (BSR) understanding in present-day businesses has led to postulations that the related behaviors would facilitate viable benefit to be attained as a firm different itself from its rivalry through such actions. Therefore, the objectives of this study was to carried out Data gathering in respect to Data screening and preliminary analysis in related to effect of business social responsibility on performance of SMEs in Nigeria. 514 respondents were derived from Small Scale Industries in Kano State Nigeria.The study employed purposive sampling techniques, equally the exercises was carried in order to suit the supposition of multivariate analysis.In view of that, an appraisal of Data missing, identify univariate and multivariate outlier and lastly, skewness and kurtosis were checked.In addition, factor analysis through Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was also carried out.Similarly, all the exercises were prepared in Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software version 18, and the preliminary analysis reveals convinced that thedata fulfill condition of multivariate analysis. The findings will give an insight to further analysis its hope to provide understanding of how and why this may be diverse in a perspectives rising environment

    Corporate Reputation on Performance of Banking Industries in Nigeria: Using PLS-SEM Tool of Analysis

    This analysis examines the influence of corporate reputation on performance of banking industries in Kano state North-West of Nigeria. A survey with 384 qualified observations from financial institutions’ customers in Kano was conducted. Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) was used as an alternative to covariance-based SEM, which provides researcher with some flexibility in terms of model complexity and relationship specification.. The model shows corporate reputation that is a reflective construct that has a significant direct effect on performance. The results, besides indicating the suitability of the PLS in statistical analysis, has also contributed to a better understanding of Banking customer in Kano which hitherto has not been tested. Findings are useful for policy makers, management of banking industries and practitioners to enhance corporate reputation, Implications for research and practice and future recommendations are discussed.     Antecedents of business students perception on business social responsibility (BSR): A comparative study of Bayero University Kano (Nigeria) and University Utara Malaysia (UUM)

    This study identifies and compares the antecedent of business student’s perception on business social responsibility among Nigerian and Malaysian students.Part of its objectives is to examine the perception of business students in terms of importance of business social responsibility as compare to profitability, and effectiveness of social responsibility in long-term and short-term, the study review literature on the perception of business students on BSR. The factors in this study was measured using 7- point scale ranging from 1 strongly disagree to 7 strongly agree, Three hundred and fifty copies of questionnaires were administered to target the respondents from Nigeria and Malaysia.This is because UUM is the largest management university in Malaysia; likewise BUK is also the largest university in Nigeria.Two hundred and twenty copies of the questionnaire were completed and returned, 112 from students in Nigeria and 108 from Malaysian students, representing 64%, 62% of half of total questionnaire respectively.Giving a total responses rate of 63%.The study uses linear regression, data were screened and outlier detected using Mahalonobis process the finding reveals that there is a significant relationship between the important of social responsibility as compared to profitability in both students Nigeria and Malaysia, also the study found significant relationship between effective social responsibility and long & short term success in both the two countries, but it was found that there is no significant relation with effective social responsibility and long term success on the part of Nigerian students, the recommendation and implications of finding were also discussed
